Scores of BRS cadres were halted by the police across various city locations on Saturday as they headed to join a 'peace rally' advocating for the creation of a separate Secunderabad Municipal Corporation.

The police stated the rally lacked necessary permissions, prompting criticism from BRS Working President KT Rama Rao, who denounced the state government for its refusal. Former Minister and Sanathnagar MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav previously announced the rally plan, which aimed to proceed from Secunderabad Railway Station to the Gandhi statue on MG Road, highlighting the demand for municipal autonomy.

Senior BRS figure T Harish Rao labeled the police actions as condemnable on 'X', highlighting the leadership of Talasani Srinivas Yadav in spearheading the rally. Addressing reporters, KT Rama Rao blamed Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's administration for obstructing their demonstration, saying it jeopardizes Secunderabad's historical identity. The BRS has pledged to push for Secunderabad's independence if they come into power.
