Maharashtra Cabinet's Key Decisions: Boosting Urban Transport, Agriculture, and Housing

The Maharashtra cabinet extended toll relief for electric vehicles at Atal Setu and approved plans to boost urban transport infrastructure, agriculture, and housing solutions. Other resolutions included a multi-modal hub for agricultural exports in Thane, the Mumbai Police Housing Township project, and support for overseas job placements for skilled youth.

The Maharashtra cabinet, led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has announced a series of pivotal decisions aimed at enhancing infrastructure across the state. Following a significant victory in civic elections, the ruling BJP-led Mahayuti made strides in relieving commuters and revamping urban transport systems.

The cabinet extended toll concessions for electric vehicles on the Atal Setu, showcasing a commitment to sustainable transport solutions. Additionally, it approved substantial revisions to the Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP-2), enhancing rail and mobility infrastructure in the region. A direct payment mechanism was also adopted for procuring 1,000 electric buses in Pune under the PM e-Drive scheme.

Bolstering the agricultural sector, a multi-modal hub for fruit and vegetable exports in Thane was green-lighted. Efforts to support housing included a project to build 45,000 homes for police personnel in Mumbai. These initiatives display a comprehensive approach to developing diverse sectors, from urban development to agriculture and housing.
