The Congress party has voiced severe criticism against President Droupadi Murmu's recent address to the joint session of Parliament, calling the speech prepared by the Centre 'insipid' and barren of vision, accusing it of echoing hollow promises.
In her speech marking the beginning of the Budget session, President Murmu called for unity on issues like Viksit Bharat, Swadeshi campaigns, and national security, while announcing the government's continued focus on accelerating reforms for a developed India by 2047.
Controversy arose when President Murmu referenced the VB-G RAM G Act, prompting protests from the opposition. The Congress, led by figures such as K C Venugopal and Manish Tewari, demanded the act's withdrawal and the reinstatement of MGNREGA, accusing the government of repetitive and empty rhetoric.
