The BJP has petitioned for the suspension of Congress MLC Naseer Ahmed from the Karnataka Legislative Council. The demand follows accusations that Ahmed made derogatory remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Following the adjournment of the House on Monday, BJP leaders, led by Leader of Opposition Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, submitted a formal complaint to the Council Chairman, Basavaraj Horatti. They condemned Ahmed's language as detrimental to democratic values and demanded swift action.
Despite the remarks being officially expunged, BJP members staged a protest in the House, resulting in its adjournment for the day. The Chairman nevertheless put the motion of thanks to the Governor's address to a vote, which was adopted amid chaos.
