M K Stalin Criticizes BJP's Neglect of Tamil Nadu in Union Budget

Chief Minister M K Stalin criticized the BJP-led Union government's neglect of Tamil Nadu in the latest budget, highlighting the absence of election-year funding allocations typical for poll-bound states. Claiming ongoing attempts to undermine the state's growth, Stalin remained optimistic about the DMK's electoral prospects and commitment to Tamil Nadu's development.

Chief Minister M K Stalin vehemently criticized the Central government's neglect of Tamil Nadu in the latest Union Budget on Wednesday. During a government event, Stalin highlighted the absence of financial allocations for Tamil Nadu, despite its impending assembly elections set for April, a usual practice by the BJP in other states.

Stalin accused the Union government of purposeful anti-Tamil Nadu policies, pointing out that unlike Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha, Tamil Nadu received no special funding. He emphasized Tamil Nadu's economic significance and claimed ongoing efforts by the BJP and allies to obstruct its growth.

Despite the allegations, PIB reported an increase in central transfers to Tamil Nadu, with substantial tax devolution and grants-in-aid expected in forthcoming fiscal years. Meanwhile, Stalin affirmed confidence in DMK's prospects, referencing the successful completion of the 'Ungaluduan Stalin' scheme's 10,000 camps, which offered extensive public services.
