The Gujarat Congress has announced a focused 10-day candidate selection drive starting March 11, aiming to strengthen its presence for upcoming local body elections in the BJP-governed state. This initiative includes hosting selection meetings in various municipal bodies across Gujarat, ensuring candidates can engage directly with party officials.

Notably, the Congress will prioritize candidates under 50 years old to boost youth involvement and ensure at least 50% of these candidates are selected in the local elections. A robust online application system has been set up with a QR code to facilitate easy access for aspiring candidates across the state's 15 municipal corporations.

Aligning with their anti-corruption stance, Congress president Amit Chavda claims the BJP-ruled bodies are breeding grounds for malpractices. He urges public participation to rectify issues such as poor infrastructure, asserting this drive as a platform for transparency and accountability in governance.
