In a dramatic political shake-up in Odisha, the Congress party has taken a firm stand by suspending three of its members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) for defying party lines in the recent Rajya Sabha elections.
The suspended MLAs are accused of voting in favor of BJP-backed Independent candidate Dilip Ray, a move that paved the way for his victory and undermined the joint opposition candidate, Datteswar Hota.
Ramesh Chandra Jena, Dasarathi Gomango, and Sofia Firdous now face disqualification from the assembly under the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution. This development underlines the Congress's stern action against what it describes as 'betrayal'.
