Internal strife within Karnataka's ruling Congress has come to the fore following actions against certain minority community leaders over allegations of plotting in the recent Davanagere South by-election. Senior Congress members, including PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi, have voiced apprehensions about the potential perception of anti-Muslim bias, prompting plans for discussions with state president D K Shivakumar.

Concerns among Congress ranks were reportedly not limited to Jarkiholi, as several party leaders are said to have shared similar sentiments privately. The controversy follows the suspension of MLC K Abdul Jabbar and the removal of MLC Naseer Ahmed from his role as political secretary, triggering fears that Housing Minister B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan might also face repercussions.

The Ulema, representing Islamic scholars in Karnataka, expressed dissatisfaction with the party's recent moves, further highlighting tensions. At a press conference, Chief Whip in the Legislative Council Saleem Ahmed and other leaders spoke against perceived betrayal of minorities within the party, condemning what they describe as an 'internal conspiracy' to undermine the party's official candidate in Davanagere South.
