In a heated political exchange, Suvendu Adhikari, West Bengal's Opposition Leader, leveled serious allegations against the ruling Trinamool Congress on Friday. According to Adhikari, TMC workers have obtained 'fake press identification cards' to improperly access polling stations and influence the voting process.

This accusation follows a separate controversy where TMC accused the BJP of violating electoral rules through its 'Matrishakti Bhorsa Card' initiative, which allegedly promised financial benefits to women, sparking claims of electoral bribery.

Adhikari took to social media to insist that these fake journalists are granted undue access to sensitive areas, potentially affecting the election's integrity. He has called for urgent action from the election commission to validate all newly issued press credentials to safeguard the electoral process. The TMC has yet to provide a public response to these allegations.
