Mass Resignations Rock Odisha's BJD: A Party in Turmoil

In a significant shift in Odisha's political landscape, the opposition BJD faces turmoil following a wave of resignations among its leaders in the Bhadrak Lok Sabha constituency. Most notable among those stepping down are former MP Manjulata Mandal and her husband, ex-MLA Muktikanta Mandal, amidst allegations of internal discord.

The departures come after Manjulata and her husband were unilaterally suspended from the party due to purported anti-party activities. Muktikanta Mandal claimed their suspension resulted from a 'conspiracy by vested interests' and warned that the moves could jeopardize the BJD's standing in the district.

Despite these warnings, former minister and BJD vice-president Prafulla Samal suggests that the party's grassroots support remains intact, asserting that the resigning leaders do not necessarily possess public backing.
