Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Raghav Chadha has announced his resignation from the political party, citing a 'toxic work environment' and claiming significant deterioration in the party's internal functioning over recent years.

In a video statement, Chadha explained his entrance into politics followed a promising career as a Chartered Accountant, dedicating nearly 15 years of his youth to co-establishing and nurturing the party. He criticized the current operations, noting, 'This party is no longer the same. There's a toxic work environment where individuals are prevented from taking action and speaking in Parliament.'

Chadha further alleged that 'corrupt and compromised' figures now control the party, prioritizing personal gains over public service. Amid internal dissatisfaction, Chadha mentioned considering options like quitting politics or reforming the party from within, ultimately opting for a new political platform. He also revealed that seven MPs were departing the party, raising questions about the state of the organization.

Earlier, the BJP's strength in Rajya Sabha increased as Chadha and six other MPs left AAP to join BJP, leading to AAP’s strength in the Upper House dropping significantly. In response, AAP MP Sanjay Singh petitioned against the merger, calling for disqualification of the MPs, citing constitutional provisions on defection.

The transition, meeting the requirements of the Tenth Schedule's clause on party mergers, was legally upheld. The shift has ignited sharp reactions from AAP, labeling it a 'betrayal,' while BJP welcomed the new members warmly.
