Congress Criticizes Modi Government Over Steep LPG Price Hikes
The Congress party has criticized the Modi government's recent hike in commercial LPG prices, which rose by Rs 993 per cylinder, marking the largest single-day increase. Rahul Gandhi described this as an 'election bill', warning of forthcoming hikes in petrol and diesel prices affecting consumers and small businesses.

The Congress party sharply criticized the Modi administration on Friday for a dramatic increase in commercial LPG cylinder prices, labeling it an 'election bill' designed to burden citizens post-election. Rahul Gandhi warned that the same financial sting is imminent for petrol and diesel prices, following the pattern observed with LPG.
Rahul Gandhi emphasized that since February, there has been an 81% increase in the price of commercial LPG cylinders, deeply impacting small food establishments like tea stalls and bakeries. These price hikes are reportedly linked to rising global energy costs, exacerbated by the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
Congress general secretary K C Venugopal echoed these concerns, noting that millions dependent on small eateries will feel the pressure. The party argues the government has failed to mitigate price shocks, and accuses it of profiting from previous low crude prices without planning for current rises.
