In a closely watched election battle in South Kolkata's Jadavpur, BJP candidate Sarbari Mukherjee has surged ahead, holding a 217-vote lead.
Her nearest competitor, TMC's Debabrata Majumdar, is trailing in second place, with CPI(M)'s Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya, a former Rajya Sabha MP, in third.
Only the first of 26 scheduled counting rounds has been completed.
