Chandy Oommen, an MLA and son of former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, secured a resounding victory in the Puthuppally constituency, winning by a margin of 52,907 votes.
The Kerala Assembly elections took place on April 9, with Chandy Oommen standing out for his distinct eco-conscious campaign. He amassed 84,031 votes, significantly surpassing his opponent from CPI (M), K M Radhakrishnan, who garnered 31,124 votes.
Oommen's campaign attracted media attention for its adherence to a green protocol, eschewing plastic banners and flex boards in favor of a more sustainable approach, including a bicycle-based door-to-door strategy.
