Delimitation Dynamics: Reshaping Assam's Political Landscape
The 2023 delimitation in Assam's assembly elections favored the NDA, particularly the BJP, by redrawing constituencies. This strategic move diminished the influence of minority candidates, boosting the BJP's performance to 102 out of 126 seats. The delimitation also reserved more seats for Scheduled Tribes and Castes, impacting opposition parties.

In the recent Assam assembly elections, the 2023 delimitation exercise played a pivotal role in reshaping the political landscape, helping the NDA, especially the BJP, clinch a remarkable 102 seats.
The reorganization of constituencies strategically reduced minority influence, reserving more seats for Scheduled Tribes and Castes, thus weakening the opposition's stronghold.
Despite the delimitation, Congress and AIUDF struggled, securing only 24 seats between them, while the NDA leveraged identity politics to consolidate its dominance in the region.
