Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam is in talks with AIADMK to form a government in Tamil Nadu. The alliance could secure the 118-seat majority mark, bypassing Congress, which has extended support to TVK. AIADMK's decision remains uncertain, but there is factional support within the party for the alliance.

In a strategic move to secure a majority in the Tamil Nadu assembly, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is actively seeking to forge an alliance with AIADMK, potentially bypassing support from Congress. N Anand, TVK's General Secretary, initiated discussions with AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami on Wednesday, aiming to secure the ten additional seats needed to reach the majority mark of 118.
While Congress, holding five seats, has already pledged its support to TVK, AIADMK's substantial seat count of 47 could make Congress's assistance unnecessary. AIADMK's CV Shanmugam stated that the party's final decision on the alliance is pending, amidst speculation that internal factions may favor supporting Vijay and his party's coalition.
Meanwhile, TVK's leader Vijay has sought a meeting with Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Arlekar to discuss government formation. Concurrently, Congress is contemplating severing its long-standing ties with DMK to support TVK. Senior Congress leader Manickam Tagore expressed the party's intent to ally with TVK, positioning it as a counterforce to BJP's influence in the region.
