AI Diplomacy: US-China Relations Enter New Dimension
Washington and Beijing are contemplating official discussions on artificial intelligence as part of a summit next week between President Trump and Chinese leader Xi Jinping. The U.S. is led by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent for the talks, but Beijing has not yet named its representative.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Washington and Beijing are considering opening official discussions about artificial intelligence. These discussions might feature prominently in an upcoming summit in Beijing between U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
According to the report, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will lead the American delegation for these proposed AI talks, though China has yet to designate its own representative, reflecting the preliminary stage of negotiations.
President Trump remarked earlier this week that he intends to remind President Xi that the United States remains at the forefront of artificial intelligence innovation, a point of pride as the two nations continue to manage tensions over trade and technology issues.
