The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has raised concerns over the fairness of recent West Bengal assembly elections, arguing that voter roll deletions skewed the results. The Supreme Court has opened the door for fresh petitions regarding these alleged irregularities. TMC claims smaller defeat margins in key constituencies where voters were dropped.
Despite the TMC's assertions, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has countered by dismissing the claims as baseless. BJP spokespersons highlight data suggesting that voter deletions did not favor them as alleged, maintaining that the electoral outcome was a genuine reflection of the voters' will in the region.
Adding another dimension, TMC members have pointed to purported non-transparent practices during the electoral process, from electronic voting machine (EVM) manipulations to alleged biases involving the Chief Electoral Officer. The BJP, however, remains firm that the TMC's legal actions are mere attempts to justify their electoral defeat.
