In a dramatic turn of events, former Karnataka Chief Minister and Union Minister M. Veerappa Moily has vehemently criticized the alleged leaks of NEET-UG 2026 exam papers, terming it a 'matter of national safety.' Moily insists that this irregularity demands serious action and accountability from the central government.
Expressing his dissatisfaction through a press note issued on Monday, Moily expressed his shock over the repeated failures of the National Testing Agency (NTA) to secure the examination process. He emphasized that this is the second occurrence, risking the future of countless students.
Moily has called for an inquiry by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), asserting that a mere investigation by the CBI wouldn't suffice. He further urged officials, including those in the HRD ministry, to accept responsibility and consider resigning, noting the urgency of addressing these systemic issues.
Following claims of paper leaks, the government canceled the May 3 NEET-UG 2026 exam. The government decided to entrust the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) with a detailed probe. The National Testing Agency, meanwhile, assured that all candidature registrations remain valid for a retest, promising no extra fees for the students.
