On Monday, V D Satheesan was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Kerala, with Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar officiating the oath-taking ceremony. Satheesan's swearing-in, accompanied by his 20-member Cabinet, marks his first governmental role despite a political career spanning over two decades as Paravur's elected representative.
The new Cabinet comprises experienced Congress leaders such as Ramesh Chennithala and KPCC chief Sunny Joseph, alongside 14 fresh faces, highlighting a blend of seasoned politicians and newcomers. Diversity is further exemplified with two female and two Scheduled Caste members joining the Cabinet ranks.
The event was attended by senior Congress figures, including Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, as well as representatives from various political backgrounds. Thousands of Congress supporters enthusiastically celebrated the occasion, following the Assembly elections where the Congress-led UDF secured a significant victory with 102 out of 140 seats.
