The Shiv Sena has attempted to downplay its recent discord with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during a Thane Municipal Corporation meeting, attributing the chaos to personal differences rather than inter-party conflicts. The uproar occurred during a session where Shiv Sena secured approval for 232 resolutions, which BJP members opposed due to the lack of discussion.
During an interaction with reporters, Shiv Sena leader Hanumant Jagdale refrained from directly naming the BJP, instead noting that one partner was acting as if it were in the opposition. Jagdale insisted that pre-meeting discussions had occurred among leaders, yet some members chose to disregard prior consensus for undisclosed reasons.
The ensuing disruptions led to Shiv Sena calling for the suspension of several BJP corporators, accusing them of attempting to attack the mayor and showing disrespect towards the national anthem. Jagdale emphasized that the disturbances were the result of personal grievances, not a breakdown in party relations.
