Amid swirling rumors of potential political shifts, supporters of Siddaramaiah gathered in protest outside his official residence, anticipating his possible resignation. The scene outside Kaveri, his home, was tense as individuals chanted slogans and expressed staunch support for the leader.
Police promptly managed the crowd, transporting demonstrators away in buses. Protesters voiced fears that Siddaramaiah's exit could significantly weaken Congress's foothold in Karnataka, a state where his influence is substantial, especially among minority communities. Those present accused the Congress leadership of orchestrating the leadership uncertainty.
Within the political corridors, speculation suggests that a leadership handover is imminent, potentially to his deputy, D K Shivakumar. Randeep Singh Surjewala, a Congress official, cautioned against unfounded media speculation, insisting that any decisions regarding leadership would be communicated appropriately by the party.
