Mamata Banerjee, leading the Trinamool Congress, has harshly criticized the assault on Abhishek Banerjee in Sonarpur, alleging that the Bharatiya Janata Party orchestrated the incident.
During his visit to South 24-Parganas to meet families affected by post-election violence, Abhishek faced aggression from locals. The mob pelted him with stones, shoes, and eggs, shouting 'thief, thief' as they attempted physical attacks. Responding on social media, Mamata stated, 'RULERS BECAME KILLERS - shame on you BJP.'
Visuals of the event showed demonstrators targeting the TMC leader, and party members contended that the protest was strategically planned to mar his visit.
