85 new schemes for Erode district: Minister

Eighty-five developmental schemes would be implemented to develop Erode district, said Tamil Nadu Housing and Urban Development Minister S Muthusamy said on Monday. Inaugurating a mass cleaning programme near here, the Minister said the civic officials would arrange the cleaning and desilting of all the water courses.

Inaugurating a mass cleaning programme near here, the Minister said the civic officials would arrange the cleaning and desilting of all the water courses. The central bus-stand in the district would be developed and three temporary bus-stands at Solar, Arachalure and Gani Rowthar tank area would be set up. He said the government has decided to convert the Chikkaiah Naicker College, an aided institution, into a government college.

He said the Institute of Road Transport Technology (IRTT) thast is running an engineering college near Chitode would also be converted into a government engineering college where 35 per cent of the seats would be allotted to wards of the government road transport employees.
