AC Short Circuit Sparks Fire and LPG Explosion at Garment Factory

A fire broke out in a private company's garment manufacturing facility due to a short circuit in the air conditioning system, resulting in an LPG cylinder explosion. No injuries were reported, and the fires were doused safely. Officials urged caution with AC usage in extreme heat.

A short circuit in the air conditioning system of a private garment manufacturing company triggered a fire on Monday, which led to an LPG cylinder explosion on the building's third floor during firefighting operations, officials confirmed.

Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Pradeep Kumar Choubey reported no injuries among civilians or firefighters, and the fires were safely extinguished.

The incident occurred at KM Leasing Limited, located in Sector 10. Alerted at 10:03 am, the fire service dispatched eight fire tenders to manage the blaze, which initially broke out on the ground and second floors.

While dealing with the fire, an LPG cylinder on the third floor exploded, causing additional flames that were quickly contained. The factory was closed, and the fire was ignited when the AC was switched on, leading to the short circuit.

Choubey highlighted that timely information regarding the LPG cylinder's presence could have mitigated the explosion risk.

Furthermore, a similar incident happened on June 1 in an IT company in Noida's Sector 63, due to an AC unit blast. Officials advised the public to avoid continuous AC operation to prevent such mishaps, especially during high temperatures.
