Narendra Modi Launches 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' on World Environment Day

In a significant move to combat climate change, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' tree plantation campaign by planting a sapling at Buddha Jayanti Park, marking World Environment Day.

The initiative aims to plant millions of trees nationwide, encouraging citizens to honor their mothers by dedicating trees in their names. Modi conveyed his delight in the campaign’s launch and emphasized India's commitment to protecting Mother Nature and adopting sustainable lifestyles.

'Over the past decade, India’s collective efforts have significantly increased forest cover,’ Modi highlighted, urging people to participate and share their tree planting moments using #Plant4Mother. Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav and Delhi Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena were also present at the event.
