Man Killed by Elephant in Chhattisgarh Highlights Ongoing Human-Wildlife Conflict

A 45-year-old man named Rajudas Mahant was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district. The incident happened near Kudekela village under Chhal forest range. Human-elephant conflicts have been a major concern in the state, particularly in northern districts, with over 260 people killed in similar incidents over the last three years.

A 45-year-old man was tragically trampled to death by a wild elephant in Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh district on Saturday morning, as reported by an official.

The unfortunate incident took place in the vicinity of Kudekela village within the Chhal forest range, according to Dharamjaigarh Divisional Forest Officer Abhishek Jogawat.

“Rajudas Mahant faced the fatal attack while he was out collecting mahua seeds,” informed the official, adding that his body has now been sent for post-mortem, and his family has received an immediate relief sum of Rs 25,000.
