A Russian missile hit a children's playground in Ukraine's southern city of Mykolaiv on Friday, resulting in the deaths of a child and two adults, while also injuring five others, according to officials.

"A playground near an ordinary house... Every day Russia proves with its terror that pressure on it is not enough," President Volodymyr Zelenskiy stated on Telegram. He shared disturbing images from the site, showing two bodies lying on the ground. One was the body of a child, covered in blood, dust, and debris, with part of a missile nearby.

The port city of Mykolaiv and its surrounding region are frequently targeted by Russian assaults. Regional Governor Vitaliy Kim praised local residents who rushed to aid the victims before medical personnel arrived. Writing on Telegram, he noted that another missile had landed elsewhere in the region. Moscow denies targeting civilians or civilian infrastructure in its invasion of Ukraine, which has resulted in thousands of casualties.
