The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) is pioneering a new chapter in environmental conservation with its latest drone-based initiative to improve the green cover of the Trikuta hills in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district.

This groundbreaking project, leveraging state-of-the-art drone technology, aims to restore the natural beauty and ecological balance of the revered shrine's surroundings. Chief executive officer Anshul Garg officially launched the initiative at Natali village on Tuesday.

Partnering with Prime UAV Private Limited, known for its advanced drone technologies and environmental expertise, the effort plans to use drones to disperse seeds of native species like panicum, trifolium, bamboo, khair, and others over 109 hectares. This eco-friendly practice aims to enhance soil conservation, prevent erosion, and support biodiversity.

Each drone flight can distribute around 10 kg of seeds, with regular monitoring planned to track the germination and survival rates. The long-term goal includes afforesting 100 hectares annually over the next decade, significantly benefiting the local ecosystem.
