Prime Minister Modi Applauds Uttar Pradesh's 'Baagh Mitr' Conservation Efforts

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recognition of the 'Baagh Mitr' program in Uttar Pradesh has been lauded by state Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The program, aimed at reducing human-wildlife conflict in Pilibhit, has trained locals to monitor tiger activity, significantly increasing the tiger population and enhancing public safety.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for recognizing the 'Baagh Mitr' program in the Pilibhit district during his 'Mann Ki Baat' address. Adityanath stated that Modi's support will boost the morale of those involved in the conservation initiative.

Launched in 2019 under Adityanath’s guidance, the 'Baagh Mitr' program trains local residents to monitor and report tiger sightings, mitigating human-wildlife conflicts. As a result, the tiger population in Pilibhit has tripled since 2014, with significant improvement in public safety.

Highlighting the program's success, the Uttar Pradesh government noted that International Tiger Day, celebrated on July 29, emphasizes the importance of such conservation efforts. The initiative includes over 120 individuals who use a WhatsApp group for real-time reporting to the forest department, enhancing the effectiveness of their efforts.
