Earthquake Rattles Desert Near Los Angeles

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.9 struck the desert area east of Los Angeles on Monday. Centered near Barstow, the quake was felt as far as Palm Springs but caused no immediate damage or injuries.

An earthquake measuring 4.9 in magnitude rattled the desert area east of Los Angeles on Monday, the US Geological Survey reported.

The quake, which struck at around 1 pm, was centered 13.7 miles (22 kilometers) northeast of Barstow.

Despite being felt as a 'rolling sensation' up to 80 miles (129 kilometers) away in Palm Springs, there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries from local authorities.
