India's Monsoon Forecast: Above-Normal Rainfall Predicted for August-September
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts above-normal rainfall in August and September, with favourable La Nina conditions. This is crucial for India's agriculture, which relies heavily on monsoon rainfall. Some regions, however, will experience below-normal rainfall. Above-normal rainfall is predicted for August and September, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), with La Nina conditions likely developing by late August.
The monsoon plays a critical role in India's agriculture, with 52% of the net cultivated area dependent on it. It is also essential for replenishing drinking water reservoirs and power generation across the nation.
The IMD forecasted that rainfall over India in August and September would be 106% of the long-period average of 422.8 mm, following a wetter-than-normal July after a dry June.
