Wild Sloth Bear Attack Leaves One Dead, Two Injured in Chhattisgarh

A tragic incident unfolded in Chhattisgarh's Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi district on Sunday when a wild sloth bear attacked three men, leading to the death of a 28-year-old man named Chhablal and critically injuring two others.
According to Marwahi division forest officer Raunak Goyal, the attack occurred near Badraudi village as the victims were collecting wood for a local festival. After encountering the bear, the men attempted to confront it, resulting in Chhablal being mauled to death and Ghasiram (45) and Santlal (42) sustaining severe injuries.
The injured individuals were initially treated at the community health center in Marwahi before being transferred to Bilaspur for advanced medical care. State government officials have confirmed that the family of the deceased will receive compensation under the state's rules.
