Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena inspected three key drains in the Nizamuddin area, condemning their condition as 'appalling and shameful' due to heavy clogging with silt, sludge, and debris, according to Raj Niwas officials.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) fired back, accusing Saxena of political posturing now that the monsoon season is over. They alleged that Saxena should have held the Chief Secretary and PWD Secretary accountable for any reported irregularities. On social media, Saxena highlighted the need for urgent corrective measures to ensure the smooth flow of water and prevent flooding.
Saxena's inspection of the Barapulla, Kushak, and Sunehri drains revealed that these vital waste channels had not been desilted for years. He directed authorities to commence desilting immediately and to clear all encroachments within a week, stressing the need for prompt action to mitigate flooding risks.
