381 Government Buildings in Goa Up for Repairs or Demolition

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant informed the legislative assembly that 381 government buildings in Goa need repairs, renovation, or demolition. The Public Works Department has taken up the inspection and maintenance of these buildings since 2024-25. If a building's condition is deemed 'aesthetically' good, necessary repairs are proposed.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told the legislative assembly on Tuesday that 381 government buildings in Goa require repairs, renovation, or demolition.

Sawant provided a written reply to a question posed by Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, AAP's Venzy Viegas, and Congress MLAs Carlos Ferreira and Altone D'Costa, also including a detailed list of the affected structures.

Since 2024-25, the Public Works Department has been responsible for the inspection and maintenance of all heritage, government, and official buildings. Sawant indicated, if a building is found 'aesthetically' good, repairs are proposed; otherwise, a structural audit is conducted to determine if demolition is necessary.
