In response to ongoing heatwave conditions in Mumbai and nearby districts, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued guidelines on Monday to help residents combat the soaring temperatures. The guidelines, informed by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), emphasize staying hydrated and taking other safety measures.

According to a release by the civic body, parts of Maharashtra, including Greater Mumbai, are experiencing heatwaves as forecasted by the India Meteorological Department, with conditions expected to last until March 11. The BMC warns that similar situations may recur during March and April.

Residents are advised to drink plenty of water, wear loose-fitting cotton clothing, use sunglasses and umbrellas, and avoid beverages like alcohol and caffeine. In cases of suspected heatstroke, immediate measures include cooling the body with water and seeking medical assistance, as untreated heatstroke can be fatal.
