Two elephants have been wreaking havoc in the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve, trampling over wheat crops and creating a pressing issue for local authorities and residents, according to a forest officer.
Despite the forest department's efforts to drive them back, the elephants continue to inflict damage. As noted by Mala Range officer Robin Singh, the situation has been hard to manage. The elephants enter farmlands mainly at night, forcing farmers to remain alert and make noise to deter them.
In Sirsa Sardaha village and other areas, the elephants' incursions have continued unabated, with the damage exacerbated by their destruction of the tiger reserve's protective fencing. This ongoing dilemma demands urgent attention from concerned stakeholders.
