Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has criticized the central government for not providing sufficient aid for rehabilitating victims of last year's landslides in the Chooralmala-Mundakkai areas.
Vijayan highlighted that the Centre only sanctioned a loan of approximately Rs 529.50 crore under its capital investment scheme, which he argues is inadequate for the rehabilitation efforts. He laid the foundation stone for a new model township to support those displaced by the disaster.
The township, located on government-acquired land in Elston Estate at Kalpetta, will feature single-storeyed homes on seven-cent plots across 64 hectares. Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also attended the ceremony.
