The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is set to discontinue its clean-up marshal program starting April 4, a response to a multitude of complaints from citizens and reports of inadequate service quality, an official confirmed on Thursday.

Numerous grievances prompted the civic solid waste management department to propose terminating the initiative, a proposal which the BMC Commissioner has now approved. The complaints reportedly emerged from all 24 city wards.

Following the commissioner's approval, the BMC made the decision to end the program. Citizens who encounter marshals imposing penalties despite the program's termination are advised to report such incidents to the respective ward officers.
