Key Extensions in Science and Agricultural Leadership
The Indian government has extended the tenure of Science and Technology Secretary Abhay Karandikar by a year. The Appointments Committee also approved a similar extension for Sanjay Garg of the Department of Agricultural Research and Education. These extensions will support ongoing departmental initiatives.

In a recent order, the Personnel Ministry announced a one-year extension in the tenure of Science and Technology Secretary Abhay Karandikar. Appointed to the role in September 2023, Karandikar previously served as the Director of IIT Kanpur.
The decision, approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), sees his term extended from July 1, 2025. This move underscores confidence in his leadership, crucial for advancing the department's work.
Sanjay Garg, Additional Secretary of Agricultural Research and Education and Secretary of ICAR, also received a tenure extension, now serving up to August 24, 2026. Garg's extension aligns with continued efforts in agricultural research initiatives.
