Monsoon Chaos: Lives Lost and Landslides in Pakistan

This week's heavy monsoon rains in Pakistan's Punjab province have claimed 23 more lives, bringing the national death toll to 258, as reported by the government on Thursday.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) disclosed that since the monsoon season began on June 25, rain-related incidents have resulted in 143 deaths and 488 injuries in Punjab. The overall fatalities include 89 men, 46 women, and 123 children.

Monsoon rains have triggered widespread flooding, damaging homes and causing evacuations. Key infrastructure such as roads and bridges, including the strategic Karakoram Highway, has been affected significantly, hindering rescue operations and leaving thousands of tourists and locals stranded.
