In an unsettling incident in South Mumbai, two elderly residents sustained injuries after part of their residential building, Atmaram Building, collapsed. The partial collapse occurred early Wednesday morning on J S S Road within the Chira Bazar area.
Emergency services, comprising fire brigade, police, and civic staff, were promptly deployed to the site after the collapse was reported at 6:23 am. An official from the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) confirmed that the kitchen segment of a first-floor apartment succumbed to structural failure, impacting the ground floor.
Among the injured, 75-year-old Thakkarji Gala and 71-year-old Gunvanti Gala required immediate medical attention. Gunvanti was transported to Bhatia Hospital, where she is reported to be in a stable condition, according to hospital authorities.
