Forest officials in Odisha's Kendrapara district successfully rescued two poisonous snakes on Friday after they wandered into local homes within the Bhitarkanika National Park area.

A five-foot-long monocled cobra was discovered in the backyard of a Khamarasahi village home, while a nine-foot-long python had found its way to Righagada village. With prompt action from forest personnel, the snakes were safely captured and relocated.

Upon locating the dangerous reptiles, villagers immediately notified the authorities, refraining from any harmful actions. Officials confirmed the snakes were unharmed and have since been returned to the mangrove forest ecosystem—ideal for their survival. The cooperation between the villagers and officials has enabled the rescue of nearly a dozen such reptiles in recent months.
