A harrowing incident unfolded in Gujarat's Amreli district, where a leopard mauled a one-year-old girl to death, as confirmed by a forest department official on Friday.

This tragic event transpired on Thursday evening in the village of Trambakpur. According to a statement from the Dalkhaniya Range of the state forest department, Arjun Ninama's daughter was sitting next to her mother during the unfortunate encounter. The leopard entered their home, seizing the child, and efforts by her mother to repel the beast proved futile. The child's lifeless body was located a short distance from their home, which is positioned approximately 3 kilometers from the Amreli wildlife sanctuary.

Prompted by this heart-wrenching tragedy, forest and police personnel swiftly arrived at the scene and initiated a comprehensive investigation. In a bid to capture the elusive predator, the Dalkhaniya Range reported deploying seven cages within the vicinity. Notably, Arjun Ninama, originally from Madhya Pradesh, is employed as a farm laborer in the village of Trambakpur. In a related incident, another young child was claimed by a lioness in the Gir Gadhada taluka, Gir Somnath district, just a day earlier.
