A tiger that had been causing distress among livestock owners in the Nilgiris district was captured in a cage on Saturday, according to local officials.
The three-year-old male tiger had been actively hunting livestock in the regions of Gudalur, Pandalur, and Sri Madurai Thevar Solai, as sources reported. The public's concerns prompted forest department officials to take decisive action by installing 60 automatic cameras and positioning cages at four strategic locations in both Gudalur and Sri Madurai Thevar Solai.
On Saturday morning, successful trapping of the tiger occurred within one of the strategically placed cages in Sri Madurai Thevar Solai. The forest officials disclosed plans to relocate the animal to a larger holding facility temporarily, with the ultimate goal of releasing it into a remote forest area where it can thrive naturally.
