The Delhi government is strategically leveraging private sector partnerships to enhance city infrastructure, handing over several key road stretches and flyovers to major companies. On Friday, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta revealed that firms like IOCL, Vedanta, and GMR are spearheading beautification and maintenance efforts.
A landmark MoU was signed with GMR, tasking the company with overseeing a road stretch from Azadpur market to Inderlok for a three-year period. GMR is set to invest Rs 6 crore in cleanup, tree planting, and maintenance activities while installing a solar pump.
The initiative is a significant step in combating pollution, with companies designated for specific areas like Mukarba Chowk, Chirag Dilli flyover, and others. This partnership, part of the companies' corporate social responsibility, includes IGL at Munirka and Godrej at Netaji Subhash Palace flyover.
