A 3.9 magnitude tremor hit the Kutch district of Gujarat on Saturday afternoon, according to the Institute of Seismological Research (ISR). The quake marks the fifth of over 3 magnitude in Kutch this month.
Fortunately, no casualties or property damage were reported, a district disaster management official confirmed. The epicenter was identified 13 km North North East of Gadhshisha, as per ISR's report.
Historically positioned in a 'very high risk' seismic zone, Kutch frequently endures lower intensity earthquakes. The region is haunted by the memory of the catastrophic 2001 earthquake that resulted in over 13,000 fatalities.
