Seventeen bodies have been retrieved from the depths of a gorge in Arunachal Pradesh's Anjaw district after a tragic accident involving a mini-truck carrying 22 laborers from Assam. The accident scene, plagued by a challenging terrain, has made the retrieval process arduous.
According to Deputy Commissioner Milo Kojin, the joint operation led by the NDRF and Army resumed early Saturday morning. However, it had to be suspended by late afternoon due to poor visibility, with the effort set to recommence on Sunday morning.
While three more bodies are expected to be recovered soon, one individual is still missing. The mishap occurred on December 8, about 40 km from Hayuliang, casting a somber mood over the rescue mission. A sole survivor who managed to reach a nearby BRTF labor camp provided the alarm to authorities.
