In a tragic series of events, five individuals, including two women, lost their lives in separate wild elephant attacks in Jharkhand's Ramgarh and Ranchi districts within a day, according to official reports on Wednesday.
Four people were killed in Ramgarh's Mandu Block forest area, while a 36-year-old fell victim in Ranchi's Angara village on Tuesday night. Quick response teams and forest guards are actively tracking the elephant herds in the area, stated Nitish Kumar, Divisional Forest Officer, Ramgarh.
Following the incidents, villagers staged a blockade demanding compensation and enhanced safety measures. Meanwhile, injured victims are receiving medical treatment, and initial relief funds have been distributed to the families of the deceased, with promises of further compensation under state policy.
