Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has initiated the 'No PUC, No Fuel' rule to address escalating air pollution in the city. Vehicles lacking a Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate will be barred from refueling, a strategy aimed at ensuring emission standards are met.
Gupta emphasized the collective moral responsibility of citizens to comply with this regulation for better air quality. She advocated enhancing the public transport system and urged citizens to adopt carpooling and public transportation, stressing its impact on reducing pollution levels.
Efforts to bolster pollution testing infrastructure are underway, with new automated centres planned. Additionally, Gupta flagged off 100 new electric buses and reinstated an interstate bus service, highlighting a sustainable initiative to convert the entire public transport system to electric vehicles.
